nothing interesting to say

Surely there's potential for something to say here. :)

Any new movie recommends? Comments on earlier Korean ones, if you've seen any yet?

Haven't watched those yet, nearly everything I've watched recently has been streamed

The 2 best I've watched fairly recently also both star 2 of the same actors, Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan. Those movies are "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" and "The Banshees of Inisherin". The director of Sacred Deer is quickly becoming one of my favorites, his films have such an odd atmosphere that I love, and Banshees is directed by the director of one of my all time favorite movies In Bruges, which also stars two of the same actors, Colin Farrell and Brendon Gleeson.

I watch pretty much every David Fincher movie so I made sure to catch The Killer when it released on Netflix, it was pretty good and reminded me a lot of one of my favorite game series, Hitman. It's not a direct adaptation of it but it's much better than the two movies directly based on the series.

I watched Bullet Train on a whim knowing nothing about it and it was unexpectedly good and a pretty fun movie. After that I decided to watch a few train movies I've been meaning to watch so I watched Snowpiercer, which I found pretty disappointing, and Train to Busan, which was great.

That's most of the significant stuff. I guess also honorable mention to Knives out and the sequel too, those were fun movies and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Oh yeah and it's been a long time since I've seen it now but the dungeons & dragons movie was surprisingly good.

Ah both of those first two I haven't seen, adding to watchlist... I was just in Dublin though, coincidentally. I loved In Bruges too. Anything I've seen Colin Farrel in particular in has been amazing.

I have seen The Killer! Fassbender's always great too, that was great. Picked that up just after Accident Man, if you enjoy simpler (plot-wise, I mean, the action's solid) martial arts you might like that too, and the sequel. Had you seen John Woo's The Killer btw, classic action with identical title/very different mood?

Oh yeah Bullet Train was a real treat. :D Reminded me of Pulp Fiction/Tarantino's stuff otherwise. And Snowpiercer! I saw that one recently too, for the second time I think. And Train to Busan last year. We're watching the same moves allofasudden... I liked Snowpiercer though, the concept was fascinating, the choreography better than I expected with the dark room fight in particular, though special effects maybe haven't aged so well. Another good train movie: Murder on the Orient Express, 2017. Even better if you've seen the original in the past.

Train to Busan was great too. Hey speaking of trains: End of the Line (2007) was another unexpected gem I just stumbled upon. The train barely makes a cameo the but it's a low-budget horror movie unlike others. In a good way.

I haven't seen the first Knives Out yet, loved Glass Onion, if you enjoyed those Murder on the Orient Express is all the more recommended, though not as action-heavy.

Saw Dungeons & Dragons at the movies, felt like the perfect place for that one. :) Also positively surprised.

If you move into Korean movies again Badland Hunters was pretty good too, came out this year.

TY for the reccomends!

a film discussion with @Cyberdevil without me!

1st Knives Out and Killing of a Sacred Deer are on Cyberdevil's watchlist :P...and yeah, that might be most psychologically disturbing movie I've seen. I'd also recommend Funny Games. Same style. I've only seen the American remake.

The Killer with Michael Fassbender is pretty good one, agree certainly superior to the Hitman movie adaptations. haven't seen John Woo's The Killer, but I have seen John Woo/Antoine Fuqua's The Replacement Killers, an underrated 90s film :P

Sorry you didn't like SnowPiercer, thought that was a real unique movie, superb character design, action sequences, and everything. Tilda Swinton killed it in her role. Train to Busan was good, more emotional depth and character development than your typical zombie movie, but the plot wasn't particularly innovative. I preferred the other recent Korean zombie movie that Cyberdevil mentioned, Badland Hunters, also featuring Ma Deong-Sok, (who I liken to a Korean Steven Segal) mostly for it's action sequences. But if we are shooting for pure action and visuals, I think BulletTrain is the winner here. And on the topic of train movies, how about Denzel Washington's Taking of Pelham 123 and as an honorable mention the real Steven Segal's Under Siege :P

you can't go wrong with Korean cinema: Parasite, Burning, Oldboy, The Man From Nowhere, Memories of Murder are all classics.
